Zanjan (Alt. 1663m) 330 Km west of
Tehran:
Dates back to the Sassanid period. in the islamic era, it has been the center of the local goverments, it made great progress. In the valley of Abhar, 42 km away from zanjan, stands the spectacular complex of Soltaniyeh, dating back to the Mongol period of the early 14th century. It was founded by Oljayto, Arghunshah's son, who named himself Soltan Mohammad-e-khoda bandeh after converting to Islam. Well worth visiting: Jame Mosque, Bazaar, Rakhtshuy khaneh (wash house) and Sangi Caravanserai, chalapi Oghli Tomb, Molla Hassan Kashi Tomb, Safavid Bridge, Seved Mosque and Qaiar Bridge. |
