Qazvin Old Gate

Qazvin (Alt.1304 m) 135 Km far from Tehran

Dates back to the Sassanid period. It was constructed to prevent the attacks of the Daylamites (926-1041 A.D.) who lived in the northen highlands. Then during the reighn of the safavid king, shah tahmasb Aval, It became the capital of iran. Qazvin is famous for its fine minutes and calligraphies. Qazvin is a variation of the word caspian.
