KHUZESTAN & SUSA
FROM EARLY Neolithic times this fertile region has attracted settlers,
it is believed to take its name from the KHUZ, a tribe probably already in occupation when the Achaemenians arrived to make this the province they knew as Susiana (the land of MILK &
HONEY)
Elamites, Achaemenians and Sassanians all built royal cities here often one
above the ruins.
The most important and strategic rivers, THE KARUN, THE KARKHA and the DIZ play important role of fertility of this region.
